Seeing people posting about how they don’t personally have to do anything about climate change because corporations and governments need to do the bulk of the work. Listen, this problem is so big and pressing that every fucking person needs to pull their weight in addition to the corporations and governments who need to do the bulk of the work.
Collectively, the difference between you being someone who buys less, plants more, eats more ethically, recycles, takes totes into stores, uses mass transit or rides a bike and being a person who doesn’t do anything because you’ve decided it’s always someone else’s problem is fucking huge. That time you littered adds to the millions of other times other people littered. The time you left the water on while you brushed your teeth adds to the millions of other times other people left the water on while they brushed their teeth.
You influence people. Your actions are noticed. People follow your lead. Yes, you.

brain: tom was never freed from his yeerk he died infested and spent years tortured, unable to speak through his mouth even just to communicate to his family that he loved them. tom died having not genuinely spoken to his brother in years, forced to watch as a parasite stole his life
Concept: AU Aftran survives the war, and gets her life together enough to figure out that she looks really good in menswear.
(Cassie’s invited her to something fancy. Everything’s great until Aftran gets drunk and tries to fistfight a stranger over intergalactic political differences.)
Into the Spider Verse is finally doing what mainstream CGI animation should have been doing for years: creating visuals only possible BECAUSE of the chosen medium.
CGI is a modern crutch. It’s cheaper than 2D by a landslide, and easier to churn out with the support of a studio.
But the actualization of a medium clicks when the medium is being used in ways that only it can. Focusing on rendering every hair, on recreating beautiful photo-realistic landscapes, that’s fine. It’s impressive. But the approach reaches a point where we’re left wondering:
“Why didn’t you just make a live action movie?”
Spider Verse brings the aesthetic, the aim, and the FUN of comics to the screen in a gorgeous way. I’m fucking thrilled that Miles is getting such a beautiful, unique, and frankly revolutionary introduction to the big screen.
“straight passing privilege” literally every lgbt person is “straight passing” until they come out, please stop smoking 2015 lgbt tumblr discourse pot
unless we’re actively Being Gay™️ we’re all presumed to be straight that’s how heteronormativity works read a book ladies and bottoms!
Hmmmm there are many , many lgbt youths who are visibly not-Cishet in their mannerisms, dress, etc. like before they come out or even understand their identity they are recognized and targeted for their gender noncomformity.
It’s also important to recognize that gender non conforming individuals be they trans or cis are often unable to present themselves as straight even if they wish to. I’m not saying that those who are able to appear straight have privilege. I feel that discussions of gender and orientation need to have the nuance to describe these variety of experiences without falling back on the idea of privilege .
You all: Spider-man Homecoming was so good! But we should have gotten a Miles Morales movie :( but Tom holland is SOOO cute and we FINALLY got a perfect peter Parker movie that really understands him!!!
People that read Ult. Spider-man: Homecoming ripped many crucial elements of Miles Morales’ story off to give to Peter in an attempt to make the story fresh and new. By doing this, Marvel could still have a revised take on a modern day spidey story but also play it safe by casting a white boy in the lead, even if that means glossing over the things that made Peter Parker an interesting character in the first place. But now when Miles’ story is adapted to the big screen, core aspects that are unique to his character and lore won’t feel as iconic, because we just saw them in Peter’s latest movie. But Tom Holland is likable enough to stop people from acknowledging these issues so Marvel can have its cake and eat it too
